International project: "Museum on the fireline: from victim to peacemaker"

October, 6 -11 – workshop.  

October, 12-13 – the International conference of ICOM (ICOM Moldova).

 

The training consisted of 5 main components, which were combined and complemented each other.

1. Formation of friendly atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust as the basis for further productive work and creative potential of participants.

The result: informal introduction of participants with each other and with museums they represent. Understanding of current priorities in personal and social life  as a basis for further participation in the workshop.

 

2. "The mission of the Museum", formation and formulation of it. The Museum in the socio-cultural landscape of modern society. 

Results: awareness of the role of a Museum not only as custodian of the collection, but also as the unifying principle for local communities; rethinking old and elaborating new forms of work for different social groups. Enrichment of knowledge and practical skills in the conservation of collections and application of priority measures to ensure their safety.

 

3. Problem statement: Museum as a communication centre of the community.

Results: the workshop participants have prepared the exhibition of creative collages. The authors demonstrated a departure from the stressful perception of space of their Museum and the overall situation, focusing on positive pulses - filling with new ideas and content of the existing museum spaces, as well as creation of imaginary spaces needed by the Museum using the information and skills acquired during the training.

- The participants of the workshop prepared three text banners – messages to the country and the world on behalf of the museums of Ukraine, which are in the zone of armed conflict, reflecting the most important and relevant socio-cultural problems, in solution of which Museum should involve. 

 

4. Psychological support of the participants.

Results: during the discussion of the block of psychological care all the participants supported the idea to involve a professional psychologist to work with certain categories of visitors, as well as the importance of the basics of first psychological aid and some psychological practices of Museum staff in the implementation of the peacekeeping mission.

 

5.Familiarization with the experience of Moldova in the cultural sphere.

Result: acquaintance with the cultural heritage of Moldova, exchange of experience with colleagues. Acquaintance with the real results of the grant programs of the European Union, the purpose of which is the salvation of cultural heritage objects, which are to become city-forming objects in the field of cultural tourism in the future. Mastering positive experience of international cooperation in the field of cultural tourism.
